Even though the City of Greater Sudbury was being hit with another blast from mother nature Monday morning, Greater Sudbury Police are warning everyone dangerous conditions remain on area lakes following a recent surge of mild weather.

On Friday around 11 pm, a snowmobile went through the ice on Whitewater Lake, approximately a quarter mile from the overpass near Regional Road 24.

The driver of the snow machine was located and treated at the scene for non-life threatening injuries.

Police want to remind everyone that due to changing weather conditions, extra care should be taken when traveling on local lakes. Police urge snowmobilers to remain on groomed trails and check with their local snowmobile club for current trail conditions.

Snowmobilers are risking their health whenever they make the decision to travel on area lakes, say police.
