The trial for a young man charged with criminal negligence causing death in relation to a boating accident on Ramsey Lake will start almost two years to the day following the incident.

Michael Christakos faces one count of criminal negligence causing death, impaired driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

The trial for Christakos is scheduled to begin June 6. The incident on Ramsey Lake occurred during the late afternoon of June 23, 2003 when two boats collided.

The passenger in the 23-foot fibreglass speed boat, Samuele Pisani, 23, was killed. The Crown alleges Christakos was the driver. Police confirmed
there were two other young men in the boat with Christakos and Pisani at the time of the collision.

The other boat involved in the collision contained a husband and wife and their two young children, ages 5 and 6.

Berk Keaney, who is representing Christakos, and assistant Crown attorney Len Walker will be in court today to present evidence on a pre-trial motion into the case.

Justice Patricia Hennessy of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice ordered a ban on public on publication on the evidence to be presented during the pre-trial motion.
