RIDE initiative leads to drug charges for Sudbury driver

On Dec. 5 members of the OPP Highway Safety Division established a RIDE initiative on Highway 17 in the City of Greater Sudbury.

 

At around 3:55 p.m., officers had occasion to check a vehicle occupied by a male driver who stopped at the RIDE program.

Officers detected the odor of marijuana emanating from interior of the vehicle.

As a result of the investigation, police located and seized a quantity of drugs inside the vehicle.

The driver, a 39-year-old man from Sudbury, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of a Schedule II substance for the purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of a Schedule II substance – Cannabis Marihuana – over 30 grams
  • Possession of a Schedule II substance – Cannabis Resin – over 1 gram
  • Possession of a Schedule III substance

The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury, on Jan. 18 to answer to his charges.
