Robbery at knifepoint leads to arrest of Manitoulin teen

A teen from Manitoulin Island was arrested for robbery Saturday, following an incident that occurred at a resident on Meredith Street in Little Current earlier that day. 

On Dec. 21 around 2:54 a.m., members of the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police received reports that a victim had had their cell phone stolen at knifepoint. 

The accused was located upon reaching the scene.

As a result of the investigation, a 17-year-old, who cannot be identified under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA), has been arrested and charged with Robbery with a weapon, contrary to section 344(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay on Jan. 22.
