A man and a woman from the Greater Sudbury area are facing a long list of charges after being pulled over in a stolen vehicle Espanola Sept. 19.
The Manitoulin OPP received a complaint at around 11:20 a.m. of a possible impaired driver that had pulled into a retail parking lot on Centre Street in Espanola.
Police located the driver and passenger with a vehicle, which had been reported stolen in Sudbury. Two people were arrested. Police conducted a search of the vehicle and located knives and drugs suspected to be cocaine.
A 32-year-old Hanmer man was charged with possession of a Schedule I Substance (cocaine), obstructing a peace officer, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, failing to comply with a probation order, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and two counts of driving while under suspension.
The passenger in the vehicle, a 40-year-old Capreol woman, was charged with possession of a Schedule I Substance (cocaine), resisting a peace officer, obstructing a peace officer, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
The two accused were held for a video bail hearing and released. They are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola Oct. 3.
