Greater Sudbury Police have charged a 56-year-old male teacher at St. Charles College with several sexual offences.

On June 23, GSPS reported they received a complaint regarding inappropriate behaviour and touching at St. Charles College, involving a 56-year-old male teacher and students under the age of 16.

Due to the sensitive nature of the incident and in order to protect the survivors’ identities, no further details will be provided.

As a result of the investigation, on June 30, detectives of the Major Crime Unit arrested and charged the man with two counts of sexual assault and two counts of sexual interference.

The man appeared in bail court the same day.

Based on the investigation, police say there are concerns that there may be other survivors. “We sincerely hope the arrest of this man will empower other Survivors of sexual assault to report their experiences to Police,” states the post.
