Sherp rescues stranded ATVers from swampy area north of Capreol

What's a Sherp, you ask? It's a rugged, amphibious ATV

It took a Sherp — a rugged, amphibious ATV designed to traverse any terrain in extreme operational conditions — to rescue nine ATV drivers who found themselves stranded north of Capreol.

At 6:15 a.m. Sunday morning, Greater Sudbury Police tweeted that they were working with other emergency responders, as well as the Sherp's distributor, Lopes Limited, to rescue the ATVers.

The Sherp was able to make it “through the swamp to access the victims and bring them to safety,” said a tweet from police at 8 a.m.

In case you're wondering about this vehicle, Sudbury.com reporter Matt Durnan tried it out in January. Check out our video here.
