Local police were called out and surrounded a residence on Red Deer Lake Road late Thursday afternoon after a report of shots being fired.
Local police were called out and surrounded a residence on Red Deer Lake Road late Thursday afternoon after a report of shots being fired.

Witnesses advised the authorities they had been ice fishing on Red Deer Lake when a neighbour fired several shots from a shotgun in their general direction.

The immediate area was cordoned off, several individuals were evacuated and members of the Greater Sudbury Police tactical unit responded to the call.

Contact was eventually established with a suspect and he surrendered to police without incident.

Fraser McLeod, 41, was charged with possesion of a dangerous weapon, careless use of a firearm and unsafe storage of a firearm.

The Wanhapitae resident was scheduled to appear in bail court Friday.
