Members from the Special Investigations Unit have designated six witness officers in the death of 42-year-old Michael Karchie at his Chelmsford home in the wee hours of Oct. 3.
SIU communications officer Rose Hong said those officers will be interviewed, but that won?t be the end of the investigation.
?We don?t like to give a timeframe for our investigations,? Hong said. ?We want to go as long as we have to because we have to be thorough, but we also want to work as quickly as possible because we know that is important.?
A post mortem completed Friday concluded Karchie died of a gunshot wound. Five members of the SIU have wrapped up their investigation of the scene on Bradley Road, but continue to work on the case.
Greater Sudbury Police were called to a domestic dispute around 10:40 pm last Thursday evening.
Karchie?s body was found inside the residence about three hours later.
The SIU is called in to investigate whenever there is police involvement in a shooting death.
