Greater Sudbury Police seeking information on vehicle that sped away from attempted traffic stop 

On Sunday, March 18 at around 2:05 p.m., Greater Sudbury Police observed a red, two-door vehicle driving dangerously at a high rate of speed on the Lasalle Boulevard extension in Greater Sudbury.

A Traffic Management Unit officer activated his emergency lights and siren in an attempt to stop the vehicle. The driver did not stop for the officer and accelerated away. The vehicle was clocked at 157 km/h by police radar.

The vehicle continued eastbound on the highway at a high speed, weaving dangerously into the oncoming lanes of traffic nearly striking several vehicles.

The officer stopped pursuing the vehicle in the interest of public safety.

The vehicle was last seen travelling Northbound on MR80 towards Val Caron.

Officers are actively investigating the incident and have supplied photos obtained from video surveillance in the area.

Police are requesting the public’s assistance to locate the vehicle and identify the driver.
