With St. Patrick's Day coming up this weekend, many Sudburians are getting ready to wear green and have a few drinks to mark the occasion.

Greater Sudbury Police are reminding residents that, if you do decide to have a few drinks, be sure to plan ahead for a safe ride home.

“Our officers will be conducting R.I.D.E. checks at various locations in Sudbury,” police tweeted Friday.

“Plan for a designated driver, use public transit, call a taxi or stay the night."*

*In an earlier version of this story, GSPS mistakenly stated Safe Ride Home Sudbury was available to offer rides home. Safe Ride Home is only available during the Christmas season. Police intended to suggest people download the Driverseat Sudbury app to find a ride home.
