St. Charles man and woman facing 20 counts of sex crimes, violence, weapons

A man and woman from St. Charles are facing some 20 charges, mostly involving sex crimes and violence.

The 43-year-old man and 34-year-old woman were charged on Aug. 25, the Nipissing West OPP said in a news release today. The charges are of a historical nature on a person who was under 16 at the time the offences allegedly occurred.

The events for which the two are charged occurred in St. Charles, OPP said.

The man faces two counts each of sexual assault, invitation to sexual touching of someone under 16, sexual interference and uttering threats to cause bodily harm, as well as one count of assault and sexual exploitation.

The woman faces two counts each of assault with a weapon and uttering death threats, as well as one count each of assault, careless use of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, pointing a firearm, careless storage of a firearm and criminal harassment (threatening).

Both people were released on a promise to appear and and undertaking, and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury on Sept. 25. 

Their names have been withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
