A traffic stop in Sturgeon Falls on Oct. 23 led to officers finding more than $100,000 worth of fentanyl and cocaine in the vehicle.

That day, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime unit and West Nipissing OPP conducted a traffic stop on Front Street in Sturgeon Falls.

“A search of the vehicle led to the seizure of cellular phones and drugs suspected to be fentanyl and cocaine, with an estimated street value of over $100,000,” police said.

Police arrested and charged a 37-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man, both of West Nipissing, with two counts each of possessing a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Both accused were released and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on Dec. 5 in West Nipissing.
