Sudburian caught driving 50 km/h over speed limit in Latchford

A Sudburian has been charged after being caught driving more than 50 km/h above the speed limit by the Temiskaming OPP on Hwy. 11 in Latchford. 

Shortly before 4:30 p.m. July 13, OPP officers were conducting proactive patrols on Highway 11, in the Town of Latchford, when a vehicle approached the officer's location. 

The 29-year-old from Sudbury, who was travelling in excess of 140 km/h in a posted 90 km/h zone, was charged with Race Motor Vehicle - Excessive Speed contrary to section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

The vehicle was impounded for 14 days and the drivers licence has been suspended for seven days.The driver was released by way of a Court Summons and is scheduled to appear in court in Temiskaming Shores Aug. 26.
