A 21-year-old Sudbury man has been charged in relation to an impaired driving incident that claimed the life of a 22-year-old man.

On May 27, at around 10:45 p.m. Greater Sudbury Police were called to a two-vehicle collision on Municipal Road 84 near Suez Drive. A 22-year old man from Greater Sudbury who was a passenger in one of the vehicles, died as a result of the collision.

An investigation into the fatal motor vehicle collision has revealed that the car driven by a 21-year old man crossed the centre line and collided with an oncoming SUV that was being driven by a 40-year old man. 

The investigation has resulted in an arrest.

The 21-year-old driver of the car that crossed the centre line has been charged with Impaired Driving Causing Death, Operation of a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 mgs of Alcohol Causing Death, Dangerous Driving Causing Death, Possession of a Schedule II Drug and Young Driver - Blood Alcohol Concentration Above Zero.

He is scheduled to appear in court on June 28.

The driver of the SUV sustained non-life threatening injuries as a result of the collision, was transported to hospital by EMS, treated and released. He is recovering at home.
