A 48-year-old Sudbury man is facing child pornography charges after allegedly searching it out on a computer terminal located in Health Sciences North.

Police haven't released the man's name, nor have they said the man was a hospital employee.

GSPS reports that back in April, Health Sciences North staff reached out to police concerned about activity on a computer in the hospital. Because it was suspected that child pornography had been accessed on the device, the Internet Child Exploitation (I.C.E.) Unit and Computer Forensic Unit were called in to investigate.

Turns out that was a good call, police said.

Search warrants were executed at various locations, GSPS said, and a forensic examination was conducted on the computer seized from Health Sciences North, a computer investigators say they were able to confirm had been used to access child pornography.

Today, a 48-year-old man from Greater Sudbury was arrested and charged with seven counts of accessing child pornography and two counts of possessing child pornography.

The man will be in bail court on May 16. His name cannot be released at this time as the information has not yet been sworn to through the court process.
