A Sudbury man was among two people arrested in Goderich late last month for armed robbery.

The Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Major Crime Unit is still investigating, but has released information about the incident and the arrest.

On Jan. 23, officers were dispatched after a report of a robbery at a business on Huron Road in Goderich.

Huron County OPP was contacted by a store manager at 9:25 p.m. that day who reported the business had just been robbed.

“Two suspects, a male and female, had reportedly stolen numerous items from the store and loaded the items into a smaller SUV just outside the building,” OPP report. “During the robbery, the male suspect brandished a knife and threatened the employees who had given chase after the thieves.”

Police said the man also told employees he was armed with a gun, though he didn’t actually show it to them, OPP reported. The suspects fled in the SUV.

Thanks to the keen eyes of a couple of members of the public, Huron OPP had help finding the alleged culprits.

“After viewing media posts, two very observant citizens contacted the Huron OPP advising of the whereabouts of the suspect vehicle, and two suspects involved in this investigation,” OPP said. “Police were able to locate and arrest both suspects,m who are now facing criminal charges. The suspect vehicle was seized during the investigation.”
