Sudbury man busted with $10K worth of drugs

Search warrant nets 80 grams of suspected fentanyl and 22 grams of cocaine

A Sudbury man has been charged with various offences following a search warrant at a resident on John Street in Espanola, said provincial police.

On Jan. 11, officers searched the home and seized cell phones, electronic devices, drug paraphernalia, more than $9,000 in Canadian currency, almost 80 grams of suspected fentanyl and more than 22 grams of suspected cocaine. The drugs have an estimated street value of more than $10,000.

The 36-year-old man is charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, resisting a peace officer, obstructing a police officer, possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid, and possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking - other drugs.

He was held for a bail hearing on Jan. 13 and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on Jan. 14.

Another 35-year-old man from Espanola was charged with possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine.
