Sudbury man caught with $13K worth of suspected cocaine during traffic stop

A 36-year-old Sudbury man faces multiple charges following a traffic stop on Highway 69 on Feb. 25.

Upon further investigation, officers found and seized more than $13,000 worth of suspected cocaine.

The man is charged with:

  • Resist peace officer, contrary to Section 129(a) of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Mischief under $5000, contrary to Section 430(4) CC,
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine, contrary to Section 5(2) Controlled Drugs and Substance Act,
  • Speeding 1 - 49 km/hr over the posted limit, contrary to section 128 of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA),
  • Driving while under suspension, contrary to section 53(1) HTA, and
  • Fail to comply with a continued section 7.0.2 order, contrary to Section 10(1) of the reopening of Ontario Act.

He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on March 3.
