Updated: MR 55 reopened to all following May 11 flooding

Motorists asked to find alternate route

Municipal Road 55 in Naughton has fully reopened to traffic this morning after being flooded out on Tuesday. 

The city and Greater Sudbury Police were forced to close the roadway on May 11 after a beaver dam gave way and swamped the road with water. 

MR55 was closed all night and reopened this morning after the waters had subsided.

Municipal Road 55 between Koti Road and Bruno Street will remain closed until at least tomorrow morning, said the City of Greater Sudbury.

The road is closed after a beaver dam burst, flooding the road as a result.

Greater Sudbury Police Services is reporting a closure at Sudbury Municipal Road 55 and Horizon Drive in Naughton due to flooding. The city said a busted beaver dam is to blame.

At the moment, crews are en route to assess the situation and determine the issue. Motorists are asked to stay away from the area and find an alternative route.
