Sudbury OPP nab North York driver for stunt driving on Hwy 17

On Nov. 9 members from the Sudbury OPP were conducting radar patrol on Highway 17, in the City of Greater Sudbury.  

At around 11:05 p.m. a vehicle was observed travelling at a high rate of speed and as a result was stopped for “Stunt Driving”.

The driver, a 19-year-old man from North York, was charged with race a motor vehicle.

The accused driver’s licence was suspended for seven days and the vehicle he was operating was impounded for seven days. 

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury, on Dec. 19.

Every person convicted of Race a Motor Vehicle is liable to a fine of not less than $2,000 and not more than $10,000 or to imprisonment for a term of not more than six months, or to both, in addition to his or her driver’s licence being suspended.
