Sudbury OPP nab two impaired drivers in two days

'Impaired driving puts everyone at risk'

Officers from the Sudbury OPP charged a pair of impaired drivers in a span of just over 24 hours last week.

On July 24, at around 7:30 p.m., members from the Sudbury OPP received a traffic complaint regarding a possible impaired driver travelling northbound on Highway 69 in Greater Sudbury.

Officers located and stopped the suspect vehicle.

As a result of police investigation, a 25-year-old man from Cambridge was charged with Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus).

The driver is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury, Ontario on Aug. 28.

On July 25, at approximately 9:10 p.m., members from the Sudbury OPP stopped a northbound vehicle for speeding on Highway 144 in Greater Sudbury.  

As a result of police investigation, a 22-year-old woman from Onaping Falls was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired - Alcohol
  • Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)
  • Speeding
  • Novice Driver - B.A.C. above Zero

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury on Sept. 4.

Both accused were issued a 90-day Automatic Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicles were impounded for seven days.

"Impaired driving puts everyone at risk. If you consume alcohol or drugs, don't drive," said the OPP in a news release.
