A 25-year-old man was arrested Feb. 26 for multiple child pornography-related offences.
The Greater Sudbury Police Service Internet Child Exploitation (I.C.E.) Unit was notified by the RCMP National Child Exploitation Centre in Ottawa after the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children Centre in the United States identified an IP address located in Greater Sudbury uploading and accessing child pornography.
On Wednesday, Feb. 26, members of the GSPS I.C.E. Unit and the Computer Forensics Unit, with assistance from members of the Tactical Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence in Greater Sudbury resulting in the arrest of a 25-year-old man and the seizure of electronic devices used to access the child pornography.
The man has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
- Distribution of Child Pornography
- Possession of Child Pornography (two counts)
- Access - Child Pornography
- Breach of Prohibition Order – having contact with persons under the age of 16
- Breach of Prohibition Order (two counts) – having access to internet
The suspect was due to attend bail court today (Thursday, Feb. 27).
Greater Sudbury Police say they are not releasing his name to protect the identity of the victims.
