It’s been 90 years since the on-duty death of Const. Albert Nault, whose murder remains unsolved to this day, said Greater Sudbury Police Service.

On this day in 1931, shortly after midnight, Nault began his beat patrols, which included an area of the CNR freight sheds and the adjoining district.

Not long afterwards, he was discovered fatally wounded near the railway shed.

The murder remains unsolved and his revolver was never recovered.

Nault was survived by his wife and four young children.

In 2008, a bridge at the Highway 17 and Bancroft Drive overpass was named in his memory.

“Though 90 years have passed, we will never forget Cst. Nault,” said GSPS in a Facebook post. “He died while serving the community he loved, and his legacy will live on forever.”
