Sudbury Police hosting motorcycle training seminar this week

Close to 100 people registered for four-day event

Greater Sudbury Police Service will host the Great Lakes Police Motorcycle Training Seminar beginning today, Aug. 14, and concluding on Aug. 17.

The training is being held in the parking lot of the Walmart in the South End. Each day will start around 8:30 a.m. and will end at approximately 5:30 p.m.

Wednesday and Thursday will be dedicated to various training seminars/riding courses and Friday and Saturday riders will put their skills to the test.

The formal speaking portion of the event will take place on Saturday beginning at 8:50 a.m. with an address from Chief Paul Pedersen.

This is the 21st year that this event has taken place and the first year that civilian riders have been invited to participate. There are close to 100 registrants and it is sure to be an entertaining few days.

Admission to watch the seminar is free; however GSPS are asking that individuals bring a non-perishable food item to assist in “Fill a Ford” where all of the items will be donated to the Sudbury Food Bank.
