On July 13 at around 12 p.m. a 20-year-old man was seen defacing property at a business on Notre Dame Street. He used a pink paint marker to write the word “REHAB”.

While doing so, the man was approached by a concerned citizen and he proceeded to take a swing at the citizen. Police were called and the man fled the scene. He was apprehended shortly after in the yard of a residence on Dell Street.

"We would like to thank the members of the community who assisted in his apprehension by providing detailed information to officers when they arrived on scene," said a GSPS news release.

The 20-year old from Greater Sudbury has been charged with assault and mischief. He will appear in court on Aug. 23.

The Greater Sudbury Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance to determine if this was a one-time event or whether the man has been involved in similar occurrences within Greater Sudbury.

The graffiti tag is fairly large and spells the word “REHAB”.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police at 675-9171 or Crime Stoppers at 222-TIPS, online at www.sudburycrimestoppers.com or by texting TIPSUD and the information to CRIMES (274637).
