A 62-year-old woman from Sudbury led police officers on a chase and hit two cruisers, injuring an officer, said the Ontario Provincial Police.
Officers from the OPP and the Anishinabek Police Service responded to complaints of erratic driving on Highway 69 at around 4:18 p.m. Oct. 4 on Highway 69 in Henvey Township near Parry Sound.
Initial reports said a small Volkswagen vehicle travelling southbound on Highway 69 was weaving in and out of oncoming traffic in the northbound lane, said police. Officers gave chase, and tried to block the fleeing car, whereupon, the driver hit the first of two cruisers.
The chase continued southbound, with the suspect vehicle's speed varying between 30 km/h and 140 km/h.
A spike belt was deployed, ending the pursuit about two kilometres north of Avro Arrow Road in Carling Township.
The driver was arrested without further incident and was taken to West Parry Sound Health Centre as a precaution. Highway 69 and Highway 400 southbound lanes were closed temporarily. The investigation is continuing and charges are pending.
