Greater Sudbury Police have charged David Sohm, 32, in connection with an Aug. 12 robbery at a gas station on MR80 in Val Caron.

The theft took place at 2:30 a.m. when a man who had concealed his face used a handgun to rob the clerk, who was not harmed, police said in a news release. 

“The employee complied with his demand and the man fled on foot,” the release said. “Uniformed patrol officers immediately attended the location, however they were unable to locate the man as he had fled prior to police arrival.”

An investigation conducted by the force's break enter and robbery (BEAR) unit identified the person believed to be responsible for the robbery.

“Shortly after 3 p.m. on Aug. 17, with the assistance of members from the tactical unit, 32-year old David Sohm from Val Caron was arrested and charged with robbery using a firearm, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, disguise with intent and fail to comply with probation order,” the release said.

Sohm was in bail court Aug. 20.
