A 20 year-old Brampton man has been charged in the robbery of the Bank of Nova Scotia in Dowling Sept. 23.
The man entered the bank demanding cash and told staff and people inside the bank he had a gun. Without seeing the weapon, the teller complied and turned over an unspecified amount of money.
The man fled in a car that was later spotted by police parked on a side street in Dowling. The man had run on foot into a wooded area and was later found by the K-9 tactical unit. All of the money stolen was recovered in the arrest.
The suspect is also accused of stealing $50 in gas from a local gas bar prior to the bank robbery. Through the investigation, the getaway car used in the robbery was traced back to Brampton, where it had been reported stolen.
At the time of the bank robbery, the accused was out on a bail order stemming from an armed robbery charge in Southern Ontario.
The suspect has also been charged with possession of stolen property, theft under $5,000 and three counts of breaching bail conditions.
