If you noticed a heavy police presence in the Dennie Street area of Capreol on Wednesday night, GSPS officers were searching for a suspect in a vehicle theft.

Greater Sudbury Police spokesperson Kaitlyn Dunn said in an email statement officers were dispatched around 7:30 p.m. in relation to stolen pickup truck from a residential driveway in Chelmsford.

While on the phone with the Emergency Communications Centre, the theft victim was following his stolen vehicle and providing updates in relation to its location.

The driver of the stolen vehicle headed toward Capreol, where officers saw the vehicle on Moose Mountain Road and eventually located it unoccupied at the dead end of Dennie Street.

The driver took off on foot prior to officers arriving.

The only description provided to police was that the driver was a man wearing a white t-shirt.

The area was contained and the K9 Unit attended to conduct a dog track. The individual was not located.

The vehicle was recovered and is being examined by the Greater Sudbury Police's forensic unit.
