Greater Sudbury Police are advising drivers of traffic disruptions in the downtown tonight around 7 p.m. due to the Take Back the Night march.

The expected route for this march will affect the flow traffic on the following roadways: College Street, Frood Road, Elm Street, Paris Street, Cedar Street and Elgin Street.

The march concludes around 8 p.m. Police advice drivers to consider avoiding the downtown core while the march is on.

In a press release, Greater Sudbury Police said it respects everyone’s right to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly.

The police service's role is to ensure public safety and to keep the peace.

Activities may interrupt the normal flow of traffic. Officers will be present during the march, working with organizers to ensure the safe and orderly movement of traffic.

Motorists are encouraged to be patient when travelling in the downtown core this evening and to be respectful of all pedestrians.
