On Saturday, Greater Sudbury Police responded to a complaint of gunshots in the area West of McCharles Lake Road in Walden.

When police arrived, they located a gunshot hole through an unoccupied motor vehicle in the area. Police checked the area for the shooter and located a male shooting targets with a rifle.

The male was arrested for careless use of a firearm and his guns were seized.

Police would like to remind gun owners that if they choose to target practice at a place other than a Gun Club, it is incumbent on them to ensure they do so in a safe manner.

They must know where every bullet goes and that the backstop they have is safe for the caliber of bullet they are firing. At this time of the year, there are many people in the bush picking blueberries and extra care should be taken.
