A 16-year-old girl was home alone when two people tried to break into her house on Jan. 24 at about 3:30 p.m., said Greater Sudbury Police Service.
The teenager fled the home and called police, who searched the immediate area and found a 36-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man who matched the descriptions provided by the complainant.
They were found to be in a possession of property stolen from the residence and a quantity of break-in instruments, said police.
Further investigation revealed they are allegedly responsible for a break-in occurring three hours earlier in the same area. They were also found to be in possession of drugs.
Both suspects were arrested and held for a bail hearing today.
They are charged with break and enter, possession of stolen property, possession of break-in tools, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and breach of recognizance.
