A veteran bank teller handled herself ?wonderfully and remained calm and cool throughout? a bank robbery Tuesday morning at the Scotiabank outlet located on 1094 Barrydowne Road.

?She did a terrific job and helped keep everyone really calm, which is very important,? said branch manager Chuck Pearson.

A lone male entered the branch around 10:30 am and told the teller to hand over some money and hinted ?he might have something inside his jacket? although no weapon was ever produced during the brief, but scary incident, said Pearson.

?The teller calmly handed over the money and the robber left,? said Pearson.

This is the first time this particular branch has been robbed in the 18 years he's worked there and he certainly hopes it's the last such incident, said Pearson.

?You hear about banks being robbed all the time, but knock on wood, there hasn't been anything like this in the 18 years I've been working here,? he said.

All employees hired by Scotiabank are given emergency training and the teller followed protocol exactly as taught, said Pearson.

?Her calmness and composure was very important and police were quick to point out how important that is during a robbery,? said Pearson. ?She didn't panic and this made everyone else inside the branch at the time remain calm...she did a great job.?

Greater Sudbury Police are looking for a lone male suspect. A description of the suspect had not been released by Northern Life press time Tuesday afternoon.
