Terminal sweep nets teen trafficker

A travelling teen is now an alleged drug trafficker after a surprise sweep of the bus terminal on Notre Dame on May 3.

Officer's with the Greater Sudbury Police drug unit, K9 unit and uniformed division were conducting what they call a “proactive sweep” of the bus terminal.

A 17-year-old girl from the Greater Toronto Area was caught in the net. Found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana, she was arrested and taken in for questioning. Police discovered she was bound by court order out of the Greater Toronto area.

Upon being detained, a further search revealed 511 grams of cocaine with an estimated street value of $50,000.

She was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance and possession of property obtained by crime.
