Three young offenders face 27 criminal charges after members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service's street crime unit acted on information from the uniform division in relation to several incidents in the city's South End in late May.

Three young offenders face 27 criminal charges after members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service's street crime unit acted on information from the uniform division in relation to several incidents in the city's South End in late May.

In the span of approximately one week, culprits broke into a warehouse at Sudbury Highlands Golf Course, stealing assorted tools, generator and two motorized farm vehicles.

As well, youths on two separate occasions stole heavy equipment from a nearby construction site, damaging numerous items in the process.

In total, $230,000 worth of vehicles and items were taken. All stolen property was recovered and damages to property and vehicles was estimated to be in excess of $50,000.

Greater Sudbury Police said the investigation would not have been as successful without the co-operation of residents and business owners in the South End.
