Greater Sudbury Police say a man accused of an August murder is known to frequent Sudbury.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Haratio Shawayahamish, 18, who has ties to Sudbury, as well as his co-accused, Landon Achneepineskum, 20.

“Anyone with information related to his whereabouts is asked to contact police,” said Sudbury police.

"We are asking for the public’s assistance in locating those individuals, while at the same time advising the public to please not engage with or contact those individuals should they be seen," said Det. Insp. Jeremy Pearson with the Thunder Bay Police Service, quoted in a Sept. 18 TBNewsWatch article.

The two men are accused of second degree murder in the death of 31-year-old Ryan Peter Legourrierec of Thunder Bay, whose body was found on the morning of Aug. 30 at a residence in the 300 block of Tamarack Place.

Det. Insp. Pearson told TBNewsWatch earlier this month that while the investigation is still in its early stages, Pearson confirmed that the homicide did not involve a firearm and does not appear to be related to the drug trade.

"While there was a weapon involved in this incident, it was not a firearm, so it was not a firearm related homicide," he said. "This particular homicide we do not believe at this time was related to the illicit drug trade and rather was an altercation that stemmed out of an interaction."

It also does not appear there was any kind of history between Legourrierec and the two accused.

Anyone with information on the suspects’ whereabouts is asked to phone Greater Sudbury Police locally at 705-675-9171 or submit tips anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.p3tips.com.
