Sudbury OPP arrested and charged a 62-year-old man from North Bay on Dec. 6 after receiving a traffic complaint about an erratic driver on Highway 17.
At around 11 a.m. on Dec. 6, members of the Sudbury OPP were advised of a traffic complaint regaring a vehicle being operated erratically westbound on Highway 17, in the City of Greater Sudbury.
Officers patrolled the area and spotted suspect vehicle travelling westbound on Highway 17, in Coniston. Police initiated a traffic stop and determined that the driver had consumed alcohol.
As a result of the investigation, a 62-year-old man from North Bay, was arrested and charged with the following:
- Driving while ability impaired – motor vehicle
- Driving with over 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood
- Dangerous operation of motor vehicle
The accused driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle he was operating was impounded for seven days
The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury, on Jan. 25 to answer to his charges.
The OPP is reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol or drug consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
