A 20-year-old of no fixed address and a 15-year-old young offender have been charged with attempted theft, mischief and breach of probation following an incident Sunday.

At around 6:30 pm, two males were in the area of Elmview Dr. and Highway 69 N in Hanmer. The 20 year old attempted to gain access to a vehicle that was being driven on Elmview.

The male leaned in through the open window and tried to enter the auto. In reaction, the motorist managed to drive off as the light changed causing the male to fall away from the car.

Moments later a second male, a young offender aged 15, started banging on the window of a second vehicle at the same intersection and then tried to open the car unsuccessfully. The motorist managed to drive away preventing any further incident. As a result City of Greater Sudbury Police were notified and an investigation and area search was conducted. Both suspects were apprehended a short time later and are being held for bail.
