Two charged with impaired driving

Two people face drunk-driving charges stemming from two different incidents, said Greater Sudbury Police Service.

A 26-year-old man drove the wrong way down a one-way street Nov. 1 when police were attending a collision in the downtown core at about 3 a.m.

Police stopped the vehicle and talked to the driver, and determined he had been drinking. The driver refused a breath test. He was arrested and taken to police headquarters, where it was determined he was a suspended driver.

He is charged with impaired driving, refusing to provide a breath sample, suspended driving and driving the wrong way on a one-way street.

Then, on Nov. 3, a 53-year-old woman alleged to have been drinking was involved in a single motor-vehicle collison on Brady Street at Broadway Boulevard at about 6:30 p.m.

She refused to provide a breath sample and was arrested and taken to police headquarters. She was charged with impaired driving and refusing to provide a breath sample.

Both drivers have had his driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicles they were driving were impounded for seven days.
