Greater Sudbury resident Samantha Quick, 26, has been identified by the OPP as the victim of a fatal crash on Highway 17 in the McKerrow area Dec. 11.

The collision involved a passenger vehicle and a transport truck. Quick, the driver of the passenger vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Road and weather conditions were not a factor, say police. The investigation continues.

Highway 17 is now fully reopened in the McKerrow area after a fatal crash early this morning, the OPP announced at 2:45 p.m. Monday.

Highway 17 has been reopened to one lane after a fatal collision on Highway 17 in the McKerrow area early Monday morning, according to the OPP.

At 4:40 a.m., emergency services responded to the two-vehicle collision on Highway 17 east of McKerrow, in Baldwin Township.

Preliminary information is that an eastbound passenger vehicle collided with a transport truck. The driver of the passenger vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

The OPP continues to investigate.

Highway 17 is closed in both directions between Highway 144 in Lively and Highway 6 in Espanola due to a collision.

The OPP first announced the two-vehicle collision — which occurred in the McKerrow area between Sand Bay Rd. and Jacklin Rd. — at 4:52 a.m. Monday morning.

The reopening time is unknown.
