There were two robberies that involved violence in Greater Sudbury yesterday.

The first, which took place at around 12:30 p.m. Sept. 28, began when a man was approached by two other men at the corner of Notre Dame and Lloyd streets.

After spending some time with the victim, the two suspects demanded money, and one of the suspects struck the victim with a baton.

The two suspects fled the area on foot. The victim received non life-threatening injuries.

Greater Sudbury Police arrested the two accused later last night on robbery charges. They will be in bail court this morning.

In the second robbery, a man was assaulted on Kathleen Street Sept. 28 at around 8 p.m. by another man. The physical altercation resulted in the suspect assaulting and choking the victim, stealing money from him, then fleeing the scene.

The victim received non life-threatening injuries.

The suspect later turned himself in to Greater Sudbury Police. He was arrested for robbery. He will be in bail court this morning.

In both cases, as the victims and suspects were known to each other, there is no continued concern for the public's safety, say police.
