Greater Sudbury Police have found the vehicle belonging to the wife of a Sudbury doctor who has been missing since Sunday, although the woman herself has not yet been located.

Sgt. Bob Keetch said officers were conducting a thorough grid search in the area where the woman's 2005 blue Honda minivan was discovered Thursday.

Daphne Kochar, 42, the wife of Dr. Harinder Kochar, hasn't been seen or heard from since leaving her South End home near Laurentian University Sunday morning.

The missing woman left her residence early Sunday morning after telling her three daughters she was going to do some chores.

Keetch said several officers are working around-the-clock in an attempt to locate Kochar.

Concern is growing as she has been missing for more than four days and the van has been located, he said.

"Obviously, as more time goes by, the more concerned we become," he said. "At this point in time, as far as we know, she has not made any effort to contact any family member, friend or business associate.

"Now that we have located the van, we are examining the possibility that she's still in this area and we urge anyone who might have information as to her whereabouts to contact police."

Police still don't have any reason to suspect foul play, but reiterate it's "highly unusual" for this woman to not discuss her whereabouts with family members, said Keetch.

Greater Sudbury Police have contacted the OPP to use their helicopter used in missing person investigations, said Keetch.

Kochar works as an office manager and had no medical problems which could have caused her to go missing.

Greater Sudbury Police have issued information to other police services across the province and notified authorities at border crossings since she went missing, said Keetch.

"We're extremely concerned for her well-being and any assistance from the public would be appreciated," he said.
