Vancouver woman caught stunt driving on Highway 17

Woman's licence suspended for seven days after being caught by OPP radar enforcement

Espanola OPP pulled over a speeding vehicle during a radar enforcement on Highway 17 in Nairn Centre on Aug. 16.

At around 9:15 a.m., a westbound vehicle was seen travelling at a high rate of speed and as a result was stopped for stunt driving.

The driver, a 49-year-old woman from Vancouver, was charged with Race a Motor Vehicle, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

The woman's driver’s licence was suspended for seven days and the vehicle she was operating was impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on Sept. 8.

Every person convicted of Race a Motor Vehicle is liable to a fine of not less than $2,000 and not more than $10,000 or to imprisonment for a term of not more than six months, or to both, in addition to his or her driver’s licence being suspended.
