Video: One man dead, two injured after two unrelated fires in Sudbury

Both fires are currently under investigation by the OFM and GSPS

The Ontario Fire Marshall's office and the Greater Sudbury Police Service are investigating two separate fires that both occurred on March 27.

A 54-year-old man died after a pot caught fire on the stove inside his apartment on Jean Street in the Donovan. Greater Sudbury Police Service was called to the fire at the six-unit apartments around 5:36 p.m.

Although fatal, fire services estimate the blaze caused $6,000 in property damage, with minimal fire damage and moderate smoke damage. Only one of the building's units was affected.

Prior to the fatal fire in the Donovan, firefighters were called to a fire involving two sheds on Keith Avenue in Chelmsford at 3:53 p.m.

Two men were injured and are now in hospital; one of them is in critical condition.

The two fires are unrelated. Both incidents are currently under investigation.
