Updated: Male suspect in custody after weapons complaint in Levack

Police urging residents in the area to stay indoors.

Greater Sudbury Police have a male suspect in custody. The incident was resolved peacefully, with no injuries.

According to GSPS Staff Sgt. John McCormick, no shots were fired at any time and the suspect was apprehended without incident.

"In this case we had a report of a weapons complaint where there was nobody injured," said McCormick.

"That's the big takeaway from this, is whenever we attend a scene like this where there's high emotions, we want it to end peacefully where everybody is safe."

Investigation into this matter is ongoing and GSPS will be providing updates on this incident when their investigation is completed.

Levack residents who are waiting to get to their homes are asked to proceed to a police check point at Ash Street at 1st Avenue to coordinate a safe route to their residences.

Two youth were inside the residence with the male suspect. The two youth have exited the house and are safe with Police.

Sudbury Police continue to communicate with the male suspect.

Greater Sudbury Police Uniform Patrol and Tactical Unit are on scene of the weapons complaint in Levack.

Police have confirmed that there is one suspect who has access to firearms and he remains within his residence.

The Tactical Unit has established communications with the suspect and negotiations are ongoing.

Residents in the area should still remain indoors.
