Woman charged with cheating daycare of $10,000

A seven-month police investigation conducted by Greater Sudbury Police Service?s Fraud Unit has resulted in criminal charges being laid against a former daycare director.
A seven-month police investigation conducted by Greater Sudbury Police Service?s Fraud Unit has resulted in criminal charges being laid against a former daycare director.

The investigation revealed, say police, that between September of 2002 and February of 2003, the accused failed to make a number of deposits from a weekly charity bingo and kept over $10,000 for her own use.

Charged with one count of theft over $10,000 is Lise Martel, 42, of Sudbury. Martel?s first court appearance date has been set for Nov. 5.
