Pedestrian charged, driver ticketed after collision on Durham St. Wednesday

In wake of incident, police warning both pedestrians and drivers

A 57-year-old Sudbury woman was taken to hospital after being involved in a collision with a motor vehicle Wednesday afternoon.

A pedestrian has been charged with failing to use a crosswalk under the Highway Traffic Act and a driver was ticketed for backing a vehicle unsafely under Traffic and Parking By-Law 2010-1 after an incident in downtown Sudbury Feb. 21.

A 57-year-old Sudbury woman was taken to hospital after being involved in a collision with a motor vehicle on Durham Street Wednesday afternoon.

"A reminder, to increase your personal safety, use designated crosswalks & as a driver, always be aware of your surroundings," said a tweet issued by Greater Sudbury Police Thursday morning.

A 57-year-old Sudbury woman was taken to hospital after being involved in a collision with a motor vehicle Wednesday afternoon.

Greater Sudbury Police, Fire and EMS responded to the collision on Durham Street at around 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 21.

The woman was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

No reports if any charges have been laid in relation to the incident. Traffic officers are conducting an investigation into the collision.
