Two women were arrested by police after trying to sell cocaine outside the Vita Heal Medical Clinic on Cedar Street.*

Greater Sudbury Police Service said it recently received multiple complaints of suspected drug trafficking and loitering around that area.

As a result, the Drug Enforcement Unit conducted an investigation and identified two women that participated in the sale of controlled substances. Both women were arrested and face a total of four counts of trafficking a controlled substance and four counts of possession of property obtained by crime.

“The Greater Sudbury Police Service Integrated Crime Team - Drug Enforcement Unit is committed to focusing on drug trafficking conducted in the downtown core as it poses a direct threat to the safety and wellness of the community,” said a news release. “It is especially harmful to members of the community that are suffering from addiction and attempting to rehabilitate themselves by attending the Vita Heal Clinic for treatment.”

*An earlier version of this story contained incorrect information. Police clarified that the two people arrested were not selling prescription drugs, as the article stated, but controlled substances. The police have not specified what type of controlled substance the two are accused of selling.
