A teenager has been charged with stunt driving, flight from police and dangerous driving after refusing to stop for officers and speeding through stop signs on May 21.

Officers on routine patrol watched a Nissan Altima speeding on Falconbridge Road in Garson. The vehicle was clocked at 80 km/h in a 60-km/h zone.

The 16-year-old driver refused to stop, according to Greater Sudbury Police Service. He turned onto Maley Drive and continued to drive in a dangerous manner, failing to stop for stop signs and traffic signals.

The driver attempted a left-hand turn from Barrydowne Road onto Hawthorne, but struck the curb and blew a tire. The teenage driver was arrested.

Further investigation found that he was on two probation orders at the time of the offence and had taken his mother's vehicle without consent.
